Trattoria da Takeshi
Affordable Italian cuisine in the Toyama mountains, with homemade desserts as the real standout.
Restaurant Details
Weary travelers making their way down from the Toyama mountains may find themselves surprised by a small slice of Italy on the roadside.
Trattoria da Takeshi may be located in one of Toyama’s lesser-known cities, Nanto, but enjoys surprising popularity among visitors making day trips out of Kanazawa or Toyama. A family-run operation, the Italy-trained chef also makes use of ingredients flown in from Italy, such as prosciutto, cheese and herbs, to make Italian dishes with a hint of Japanese influence.
Aside from the standards of pasta and pizza, the trattoria’s desserts are also made in-house, and pair excellently with an after-meal drink of espresso or latte made from specially selected beans, sourced from Cafe MicT in Toyama City.
When he’s not in the kitchen painstakingly crafting his desserts or firing pizzas, Chef Takeshi can be found mixing with his guests, making easy conversation. It’s easy to let an afternoon or evening slip by without noticing in the restaurant’s homey, comfortable atmosphere, full of natural wood and warm lighting.
