Truly wonderful experience. Very chill vibe, which was a welcome reprieve from the uptight ambience of many Michelin-starred places (let alone one with 3 stars). Kitchen and front of house (many of whom are family) were so nice. Food was immaculate, with lovely, subtle flavors. The C wine pairing (3 sake + 2 wine; no champagne, didn’t seem necessary) was perfect, and the spare rib was the best I’d ever had (we’d been recommended the rib, otherwise would’ve gone for eel or one of the fish). Easily accommodated my gluten allergy, and I ate nearly everything that my husband (blessed with a normal stomach) had. At the end, the chef met us at the door to say goodbye. Cannot recommend Taian enough.

This was one of the best experiences we had in Japan. Faultless service, delicious food and amazing sake. They had live crickets in a cage to create ambience! They don’t get many tourists in to eat but the staff were amazing and tried really hard to translate things into English for us as our Japanese is embarrassingly bad. Wonderful to watch the team working so seamlessly together. Amazing memories made!

Very intimate atmosphere. The list of drinks is too small. However, the sake selection is very good. Ms. Nakamura's dedication to us was excellent!!!
