Unkaku
Traditional Japanese dining with a hit of pure Osakan panache: the dishes here will leave a lasting impression.
Restaurant Details
Kaiseki dining has its roots in the courtly culture of old Kyoto, but it’s undeniable that the bolder flavors of Osaka bring an added impact to the style. Unkaku is a restaurant which seems designed to prove that fact.
Here, diners enjoy tea-ceremony inspired hospitality and excellent Japanese hospitality, and an amazing omakase (chef’s choice) meal. The signature dish is a full sea bream that’s flame-grilled with rapeseed oil for a full seven hours! This makes every part delicious — even the heat-seared bones. Such left-field additions really turn the kaiseki tradition on its head at times. It’s no wonder that the owner believes this signature dish best represents the spirit of the Osaka style.
This is the perfect place for a special occasion, with a private banquet room for up to 12 guests. Even if you don’t currently have any cause for celebration, you will after getting a taste of Unkaku’s fine traditional Japanese food.
