Nishitemma Nakamura
Flying the flag for female chefs in Japan, this Michelin-starred kaiseki chef presents a tour-de-force in fine seasonal dining.
Restaurant Details
The world of traditional Japanese restaurants is, unfortunately, a male-dominated one. It’s rare to find a female owner-chef at the top of the industry, which is one of the reasons Nishitenma Nakamura is so noteworthy.
The other reason is, of course, the outstanding culinary skill on display here. The chef combines Japanese tradition with some Western-style ingredients such as foie gras, with a real eye for aesthetics in the presentation. The clearest example of this is the hassun — a seasonal spread of small bites which starts off any good kaiseki meal — one of the most eye-catching in all of Osaka.
On top of that, the dashi stock is prepared to order, so it’s always as fresh and flavorful as possible. For a kaiseki meal suitable as an entry point, or a treat for seasoned veterans, Nishitenma Nakamura delivers in style.
