Iwaki
A kappo restaurant in Osaka with some unconventional menu items and a sterling reputation among locals.
Restaurant Details
This traditional restaurant in Osaka serves dishes in the city’s popular kappo style, in which you can watch all of the cooking action happen right in front of you. The Michelin-starred chef will create a meal of traditional dishes, with some unconventional elements added in. You can choose from the a la carte menu, or allow the chef to take the wheel with the full omakase set course.
You won’t often find lamb on the menu at Japanese restaurants, or freshwater eel cooked in basil sauce, but both are on offer at Iwaki. As is a solid sake menu, with premium bottles from around the country.
The Michelin star has raised the demand for this restaurant’s eight counter seats tremendously, so make sure to book well ahead to avoid disappointment.
