This tour has to be one of my highlights during my stay in Japan, because not only were we able to learn more about the market (and it's history), but we were also able to taste some of the most highest of qualities of seafood, tamagoyaki, snacks, and desserts around. Although, my tour wouldn't have been able to experience such wonderful foods without our gracious guide, Keiko Mine. She was so kind, informative, and always willing to answer any questions we had along the way. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to experience Tsukiji Fish Market for the first time or who want to know more about its history.

We had an incredible tour with Keiko! She guided us through many food groups in the market, stopping to explain cultural significance and history of many items and places, which was the best part! We were so full at the end as well! The group was intimate and Keiko did a great job at making everyone feel included - whether solo traveling or with a group. Glad we booked this trip!

The market was amazing and we tasted many items we would have been reluctant to taste without Akiko our friendly and fun guide. The mix of local foods and some of their importance was wonderful to understand. Akiko was a great guide.

My family took a morning guided tour to Tsukiji market with Yoshi, and it really exceeded all our expectations! Yoshi is nice, knowledgeable and showed us many different foods and places that we would never manage to find by ourselves. The specialties we tried were amazing and the portions were generous. We couldn’t have asked a better tour, I really recommend it!

We had the absolute pleasure of being guided by truly incredible guide, Kaori. From the moment we met her, Kaori was warm, welcoming, and so accommodating—especially to my older parents, making sure they felt comfortable throughout the walk. She was incredibly thoughtful, often checking in with them and adjusting the pace so everyone could enjoy the experience fully. It’s rare to find a guide who brings that level of care and attentiveness, and it truly meant the world to us. Kaori’s knowledge of Tsukiji was deep and fascinating, but what stood out even more was how she brought the market to life with her passion and storytelling. One of the highlights of the tour was when she took us behind one of the food stalls to show us how tamago is made—a truly special, behind-the-scenes peek that we never could’ve experienced on our own. Watching the process up close and hearing about the craft behind it was fascinating and really highlighted the beauty of Japanese culinary culture. And of course, the food itself was beyond delicious. Kaori introduced us to some of the best bites in the market, but the standout had to be the melt-in-your-mouth wagyu skewers—so juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Every stop felt curated and intentional, and Kaori always made sure we had the best possible experience with each dish. Thank you, Kaori, for giving us a truly memorable day filled with laughter, learning, and lots of amazing food. You’re a treasure!

The beating heart of any Japanese food scene is the bustling markets of its cities. At the break of dawn, the sushi chefs converge to score the freshest fish of the day, while greengrocers arrange their farm-fresh produce, and street food vendors set up their stalls with simmering pots and sizzling grills. The smell of it all alone is enough to set your appetite alight!

Joining a market tour in Japan is a must-do for any true foodie tourist — whether it’s the world-famous fish market at Toyosu with its million-dollar tuna, the delightful snacks and souvenirs of Kyoto’s Nishiki Market, Osaka’s street food Meccas, or any the other tantalizing epicenters of Japanese food culture.

What you might not know though, is that some of these markets are as vast as they are vibrant. Rather than navigating your way through their labyrinthine corridors alone, why not enlist the help of an expert local Japanese guide during one of these Japanese market tours to maximize your time there? Our lineup of market tours in Japan will help you unlock the very best the markets of Japan have to offer!
