The market was amazing and we tasted many items we would have been reluctant to taste without Akiko our friendly and fun guide. The mix of local foods and some of their importance was wonderful to understand. Akiko was a great guide.

We had the absolute pleasure of being guided by truly incredible guide, Kaori.
From the moment we met her, Kaori was warm, welcoming, and so accommodating—especially to my older parents, making sure they felt comfortable throughout the walk. She was incredibly thoughtful, often checking in with them and adjusting the pace so everyone could enjoy the experience fully. It’s rare to find a guide who brings that level of care and attentiveness, and it truly meant the world to us.
Kaori’s knowledge of Tsukiji was deep and fascinating, but what stood out even more was how she brought the market to life with her passion and storytelling. One of the highlights of the tour was when she took us behind one of the food stalls to show us how tamago is made—a truly special, behind-the-scenes peek that we never could’ve experienced on our own. Watching the process up close and hearing about the craft behind it was fascinating and really highlighted the beauty of Japanese culinary culture.
And of course, the food itself was beyond delicious. Kaori introduced us to some of the best bites in the market, but the standout had to be the melt-in-your-mouth wagyu skewers—so juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Every stop felt curated and intentional, and Kaori always made sure we had the best possible experience with each dish.
Thank you, Kaori, for giving us a truly memorable day filled with laughter, learning, and lots of amazing food. You’re a treasure!

Atsu guided our group of five into the market, welcoming us with smiling warmth and introducing us to new foods in several restaurants. Atsu explained the menu for the tour, and everything we tried was delicious. We especially appreciated his conversation about the Nishiki market’s history, and that he showed us the traditions in the shrines and temples. Atsu gave us recommendations of his favorite places, besides the places we visited during the tour. Atsu’s English was very good, and we enjoyed the relaxed pace of our tour. Ending at the Takashimaya shopping center allowed us to continue walking and enjoying the many beautiful products offered at Takashimaya after we said goodbye to Atsu. Thank you Atsu!

Was interesting, but the larger part of the market is the „tourist“-market only one building is actually the fish-market. So if you have enough time in Tokyo go for it, if you are an a tighter schedule save your time.
