The hot springs of Beppu attract visitors year-round, but its amazing food, hospitality, and experiences are what make this destination so special. In this food tour, you’ll join a local guide for lunch and try several specialties while learning more about Beppu’s unique culture.
Your first stop will be the Beppu Station Market, where you’ll try their famous rice rolls. Next, you’ll go to the local meat shop, where you’ll sample warm comfort foods like fried chicken, and lastly, you’ll head to a traditional Japanese bakery, where you’ll taste the delights of soft, cushiony baked goods. Finally, you’ll finish your gourmet adventure with a quintessential Beppu drink: coffee made with hot spring water (onsen coffee) with a unique, soft, pleasant flavor and aroma. You’ll enjoy your coffee at Space Beppu, a restored traditional house where you can relax and unwind.
The organizer and guide of this experience is a German-born Japanese fluent in Japanese and English and committed to ensuring you receive an incredibly authentic and immersive local cultural experience. On occasions when he is not available, another English-speaking local guide will lead the tour. All guides are well-versed in local customs and traditions and strive to ensure that you have a delightful time tasting the authentic foods and beverages enjoyed by Beppu locals.
