Spring in Japan means one thing: Cherry blossoms! Cherry blossoms (sakura) are darlings of the springtime season in Japan–you’ll quickly notice them taking over everything from cafes and convenience stores to restaurant menus and high teas.
One of the most popular sakura-themed desserts in Japan is fluffy chiffon cakes, which you’ll learn how to make at this in a one-day workshop in Tokyo! You’ll learn how to make the various elements of this delicate dessert, bake and decorate, then get a lesson in dessert photography from your professional instructor.
Your sweet sakura adventure will begin with an icebreaker and a breakdown of your menu for the day. Next, you’ll start making the meringue (among other components), then pour them into a mold for baking. Finally, you’ll decorate your chiffon cake with cream! Your instructor carefully selects all ingredients used during this class, and you get a choice of flavors including matcha (green tea), cocoa, black tea, sakura, strawberry, and yuzu.
