Experience Details
For a limited time, enjoy a special sakura version of the Midnight Diners tour, allowing you to see beautiful cherry blossoms and experience a real-life version of the Netflix series "Midnight Diners: Tokyo Stories." Come along and soak in the mesmerizing cherry blossoms before bar-hopping in Kichijoji as you get a true local experience in Tokyo.
Your host will meet you at Kichijoji station before walking around Inokashira Park, a popular sakura spot in Tokyo. You'll be able to see the gorgeous sakura blossoms around golden hour, the perfect time to take photos. Having a drink while enjoying the vibrant pink oasis is classic hanami (flower viewing), a popular pastime in spring in Japan.
After the sun sets on Inokashira Park's cherry blossoms, it's time to hit the bars! Kichijoji is widely known as one of the most liveable places in Tokyo, but many don't know of its local reputation for eclectic little bars and gastropubs. Some are so off-the-grid that even Google Maps doesn't know of their existence!
Most of these tiny bars are in Harmonica Yokocho, or Harmonica Alley, which started as a flea market after World War II. Now, Kichijoji and Harmonica Yokocho are home to 1950s-themed pubs, record-scratching bartenders, horse meat cuisine, and even a bar where the staff drinks with you.
Bar hopping in Harmonica Yokocho is a great way to explore the winding maze of historic pubs and eateries in Kichijoji. Each Harmonica Yokocho bar only seats a few people, with some of the smallest seating only seven. Soon, you'll be cracking jokes and saying "kanpai!" like a local.
Your trilingual tour guide is well-known in the area; every few minutes, somebody recognizes him and calls out his name. Having lived in Kichijoji for several years and becoming friendly with the owners and bartenders of some of Tokyo's most eccentric and lively bars, he's the perfect tour guide to take you bar hopping in the Kichijoji neighborhood.
