Experience Details
With a legacy of sweets-making that dates back over four centuries, Mannendo is one of Japan's household confectionery brands. Its main store, located in the heart of Ginza, is run by 13th-generation wagashi master Yoshi Higuchi. Apart from managing the shop operations, master Yoshi extends his deep-rooted passion for wagashi confectioneries through a short wagashi-making workshop at the historical setting of the Mannendo Ginza shop.
While the art of making these intricate sweets could perhaps take a lifetime to master, this introductory session welcomes participants with all levels of skill for a beginner-friendly class. Here, you'll learn about the history, culture and seasonality of these Japanese traditional confectioneries from master Yoshi, who will also demonstrate how to make warabi mochi and nerikiri, and guide you in making two or three kinds of nerikiri (a moist kind of wagashi confectionery).
