Tama Sushi, first established in Tsukiji in 1924, trains sushi chefs in a comprehensive five-month program teaching essential skills, from customer service to personal development and, of course, mastering the precise art of sushi. Condensing the key teachings of this course into a few hours, this unique experience led by experts in the field introduces the intricate art of sushi-making for enthusiast sushi lovers of all backgrounds.
After arriving at Tama Sushi, a restaurant only a minute’s walk from Asakusa Station, you’ll change into a white hat and coat and begin your sushi-making journey. A professional sushi chef from Tama Sushi, accompanied by an English-speaking interpreter, will walk you through the process of assembling nigiri with fresh toppings like salmon, bluefin tuna (maguro) and shrimp. You’ll complete your six-piece sushi set with a salted salmon roe gunkan (battleship roll) and a hand rolled temaki sushi expertly crafted by the chef.
Watch the chef grate real wasabi and display his precise bamboo leaf-cutting (sasagiri) skills. After enjoying your fresh lunch, take home a certificate of completion and a unique souvenir to remember this special sushi-making experience.
