Restaurant Details
Nestled in Tokyo’s lively Kabukicho district, Shinjuku Kakekomi Gyoza is an around-the-clock eatery where Japanese-style dumplings take center stage. Specializing in handmade gyoza, the menu offers an almost limitless variety, from classic pan-fried and boiled versions to bold options like spicy chili sauce and cheese-tomato variations. Vegan gyoza, made with soy meat, is also available through advance reservations.
As the only 24/7 restaurant in Kabukicho, Shinjuku Kakekomi Gyoza is the perfect go-to for a late-night bite after a fun evening with friends or a reliable spot for a delicious meal at any hour.
There’s no shortage of thrill inside. Waitstaff and cooks clad in bright uniforms boomingly call out orders as you step into the lusciously decorated space. Glowing white lanterns illuminate the space no matter the time of day (the store operates around the clock) and wooden plaques in kanji are mounted all over the walls — it’s a lively restaurant that takes you back to the Edo period with its unique fire brigade-inspired decor.
Trays glide between narrow tables, steaming with plates of gyoza, while the adventurous can sample delicacies like horse meat sashimi, or "sakura niku," flown in fresh from Kumamoto Prefecture, and Kyoto-style oden. Diners can also indulge in all-you-can-drink options, including highballs, Japanese beer (perfect with gyoza dipped in Nagoya Cochin chicken broth) and shochu. Don’t miss their signature "Olympic Gyoza," a colorful five-piece creation inspired by the Olympic rings, for a truly memorable dining experience.
