Oryori Hatano
A kaiseki which respects the traditions of the craft, and received two Michelin stars for its efforts.
Restaurant Details
Situated in the Beppu area of Oita, near Minamitateishi Park, this is a kaiseki restaurant which prides itself on authentically representing tradition. Only private rooms are available, one outfitted with Japanese furniture and tatami flooring, the other a Western-style dining room.
Historic kaiseki dishes are presented here in forms largely unchanged over the centuries, using the best ingredients which each season has to offer. Sensitivity towards nature is key to kaiseki cuisine, and Oryori Hatano embodies this wonderfully.
The owner’s parents are rice growers, and he uses their rice to cap off his meal with the traditional claypot of rice.
