Restaurant Details

When a restaurant continuously receives a Michelin star each year since its opening, that says a ton about not just its quality dishes but also every other aspect of the dining experience. Oimatsu Kitagawa is a Kyo-kaiseki restaurant located in the Nishitenma area of Osaka, a place that’s steeped in history and culture.

This restaurant's unique style is the result of blending the essences of two cities, Kyoto and Osaka, and has caught the attention of many foodies worldwide. The atmosphere for lunch and dinner is vastly different — lunch encompasses the peaceful energy of Kyoto's light dining while dinner follows the dynamic force of Osaka's "eat till we drop" attitude.

The seasonal kappo-style omakase courses centers around fresh seafood picks with appetizers and soup specially created to build up to its main dish. The hassun course is gorgeously decorated in seasonal foliage, such as momiji in the fall and bamboo in the summer. The chef can also add a meat dish to the menu when requested (in advance so that the restaurant has time to prepare it).

Oimatsu Kitagawa carefully selects the techniques that bring the most out of each ingredient, focusing on details like temperature, aroma, and texture. Expect a surprise in flavor in the first bite of every ingredient — none of what you imagine will exactly match what is served to you.
