In this home cooking class just a 6-minute walk from Osaka-Namba station, you’ll be led by one of three highly trained instructors passionate about sharing recipes and insights on Japanese culture.
The cooking class will begin with a lesson on how to make tempura fritters. You’ll lightly batter and fry vegetables and seafood before seasoning. Perfectly cooked tempura has a pleasant external crunch and a perfectly steamed interior that makes every bite satisfying and delicious.
Next, you will tackle making an authentic Japanese rolled omelet known as tamagoyaki. This creamy dish requires a special cooking technique your instructors will teach you. It is made by whisking eggs with dashi (salty fish stock) before cooking it in a unique rectangular pan.
But the star of the show will undoubtedly be the piping hot and incredibly comforting sukiyaki. This Japanese-style hotpot is made with a savory base and topped with tofu, thinly sliced beef, shiitake mushrooms and seasonal vegetables.
After cooking, it will be time to sit down and enjoy your meal with vegetables and rice. Savor your feast with your host, and even enjoy a traditional performance of minyo (traditional folk songs) played on the shamisen!
