Experience Details
Japanese cuisine is renowned for its detailed presentation and aesthetics. Surprisingly, however, achieving this level of detail in your own dishes is simpler than you might think. In this cooking class, you'll learn to make a meal that doesn’t just look beautiful but tastes great, too. You’ll roll decorative sushi and make a “surprise jelly” with a cute filling, then enjoy your meal with an additional sweet treat that is one of the country's classics.
Near Osaka-Namba Station, you’ll be greeted into a welcoming space created to share traditional home cooking techniques, recipes, and insights into Japanese culture. Your English-speaking instructors have extensive cooking experience and are eager to share their knowledge. Be ready to learn some of the customs you might find when cooking and eating in a local home kitchen.
Moving into the cooking portion of the class, you’ll learn how to make decorative sushi rolls, which, when cut, reveal a beautiful flower motif. You will be taught the precise chopping, rolling and cutting techniques needed to pull off this impressive dish with such detail that you can recreate it back home.
Next, you’ll move on to making a “surprise jelly” and you’ll also be served a fruit sandwich filled with whipped cream and fresh fruit. After enjoying your meal, you can immerse yourself further in Japanese culture by listening to your host play traditional folk songs (minyo) on a shamisen!
This cooking class is designed for people of all skill levels, whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced chef looking for new, original recipes to try. Just make sure you come hungry and ready to eat lots of delicious fruit!
