You'll learn to cook four traditional Okinawan dishes with Rina, your host and professional chef from Naha, who has been leading cooking classes for over seven years. After meeting at a designated meeting point nearby, you'll go to her house to get a taste of the blue zone diet while learning about the history and culture of Okinawa. Rina will demonstrate how to make each dish and guide you step-by-step while you cook together. The menu includes the following dishes:
-Goya champuru (a stir-fry dish with bitter melon and tofu)
-Kubu irichi (kombu-simmered pork shoulder and vegetables)
-Jyushi (rice topped with dashi)
-Umukuji andagii (purple sweet potato tempura).
Once you're done cooking, you'll assemble a Japanese-style bento (packed lunch) and enjoy a relaxed conversation with Rina. Feel free to ask her about life in Okinawa and her recommended places to visit and things to do!
