Yanagiya Nishiki
Taste the best of the mountains of Japan, without all the hassle of leaving the city.
Restaurant Details
This is the Nagoya outlet of the original Mizunami-based restaurant, which is basically the authority on the prefectural cuisine of Gifu — the mountainous region which hugs the northern border of the city. Seasonal ingredients such as eel and suppon (turtle) in summer, and wild game and matsutake mushrooms in winter, bring a taste of those rich mountains to central Nagoya.
The omakase menu features over a dozen dishes which cover every corner of Gifu, from the rivers, to the farms, to the mountainside forests. The unique range of dishes won’t be found elsewhere in town, making this one of the more unique traditional dining options among a sea of Kyoto-style eateries.
