Restaurant Details
If "holy cow" isn't the first thing that comes out of your mouth as soon as you take a bite of Yakiniku Jumbo Hongo's spectacular grilled meat, you're doing it all wrong. There are only a handful of top-class yakiniku restaurants in Tokyo, and this Korean BBQ restaurant is definitely one of them.
Jumbo Hongo serves only the best wagyu beef from all over Japan. Combined with the restaurant's secret sauce and grilled on a hot plate right in front of the guests, this beef causes a veritable explosion of flavors in the mouth. Jumbo Hongo offers omakase courses consisting of nine to twelve dishes grilled in special ways according to the types of cuts, to introduce the different parts of the cow including the heart, tongue, chuck, upper rib, chateaubriand, rump, and tenderloin.
The bestselling meat is the Noharayaki, which is a premium quality sirloin steak coated in a soy-based sauce that's grilled and then dipped in raw egg. Another one is the chateaubriand steak, a thick and juicy piece of tender beef from the day's freshest meat.
Jumbo Hongo has unique dishes like wagyu sushi and yukke rice — rare dishes that can only be found at this restaurant. The rice dish is a hot bowl that's covered with beef tartar and egg yolk: a wonderful balance of rich meat and dry grain.
Highly lauded and getting more attention as the days go by, Jumbo Hongo deserves the credit it receives for its amazing cuts of beef, prepared to perfection.
