Restaurant Details

Ginza is the hub of Tokyo’s gourmet scene, as well as its financial industry, so these streets can often feel a little chaotic. Sushi Takahashi, just a short walk from the station to one of the more peaceful pockets, manages to avoid the chaos. This place offers a retreat from the madness of downtown without having to leave the city center at all.

The owner-chef, Jun Takahashi, studied at one of Ginza’s most popular sushi restaurants for five years before opening his own place. He is a young chef with a great eye for ingredients at Toyosu Market, where he goes every morning to source the best seafood.

His skills are on full display as he shapes these ingredients into perfect nigiri, as with the tiger prawn cut down the middle to drape nicely over the sides of the rice bed.

Appetizers and side dishes bring some refreshing variety to the meal, with dishes such as simmered hairy crab head with octopus, presented in the upside down shell. Around 20 Japanese sake varieties complete the dining experience at one of Ginza’s best sushi hideaways.
