La Barrique Tokyo
One of the most respectable wine cellars in Tokyo is sure to make your meal here a memorable one.
Restaurant Details
The namesake of this Italian at Edogawabashi Station was in the city of Torino, where the owner trained for several years. Unfortunately that place had to close its doors when the owner took over his family’s business, but this Tokyo restaurant keeps the spirit of it alive.
The tea house building where this restaurant is located is over seven decades old, with sliding doors and the layout of a traditional Japanese house. In fact, this is actually the family house where the owner, Shin Sakata, grew up.
Just as the interior, with its European-style white cloth-clad tables, presents Italian style within the distinctly Japanese setting of the tea house, the menu presents Italian dishes within the frameworks of Japanese tastes. The precise dishes on this menu change regularly.
Also on offer is a 700 bottle strong wine cellar, with a vintage to match any dish that Sakata-san could possibly dream up.
