ALTER EGO
Get a taste of Milan presented by Japan's master chef of Italian cookery.
Restaurant Details
Presenting Italian cuisine from Milan in a formal Japanese dining setting, ALTER EGO has made an impact not only in its neighborhood of Jimbocho in Tokyo, but all over Japan. This restaurant is owned by a famous and extremely successful chef, Yoju Tokuyoshi, who is the first-ever Japanese person to earn a Michelin star for his restaurant in Italy. It's little wonder then that his Japanese restaurant was also awarded a Michelin star.
Alter Ego's concept is based on "equilibrio," which means balance in Italian. This is applied to the balance of locally sourced ingredients in their dishes — particularly those from the chef's hometown Tottori. Just like in Milan, each dish in the course meal offered comes with a soup pairing, signifying harmony and unity between the two cultures.
No two visits will be the same. The full course at Alter Ego changes monthly, presenting guests with a different surprise every time. Decorated to echo the green walls and cedar balls of Tokuyoshi's restaurant in Milan, this restaurant is half a nod to the great success of the chef, and half to the sensitivity of the Japanese culture.
