Fugu pufferfish is a must-try for any Japanophile foodie — go for the best with this 2022 Michelin-starred blowfish restaurant in Tokyo.

Restaurant Details

Japanese blowfish is one of the country’s most famous dishes, due in part to its poisonous properties. Nowadays, a strict licensing system surrounds the cuisine, with only carefully trained chefs allowed to prepare it for sale.

That might all sound a little scary, but at a 2022 Michelin-starred fugu restaurant like Izumi, you really have nothing to worry about except sitting back, relaxing, and enjoying some delicious dishes featuring all sorts of cuts of the fish.

They have the benefit of not only serving fugu in the winter season, but all year round! Get the full omakase kaiseki to enjoy a range of styles of fugu, along with seasonal dishes to accompany. This means huge platters of beautifully thin-cut sashimi, deep fried fillets, and delicious hotpots (among others).
