Honten Yamashina
Patience is a virtue for Honten Yamashina, where Omi beef from Shiga Prefecture is only purchased after it turns 40 months old.
Restaurant Details
Unparalleled five-star hospitality (the concept here is guests’ connection with the chef), dedication to premium beef and upscale ambiance define the excellence found in Honten Yamashina. Situated on the top floor of Ginza Place overlooking Ginza Yonchome Intersection, this teppanyaki emporium is romantically stunning with high ceilings, velvet chairs and Baccarat chandeliers.
The star of this gastronomical show is the Omi beef from the Okazaki Farm in Shiga Prefecture. Allowed to grow until these cattle turn 40 months old, this patient process gives the meat a richer and deeper flavor regardless of the cuts. The centerpiece grill is where the performance unfolds: the chef turns on the heat and serves beef tongue with lemon, while an appetizer of beef sashimi is beautifully marbled. From land to sea, quality prevails; spiny lobster is halved and grilled to perfection, and the abalone “steak” is meticulously scored and cooked with a sauce made from its liver.
The impressive alcoholic beverages lend to their opulence as well. The wine list includes hard-to-find labels like Romanee-Conti, Petrus and Jikon, while the sake and whiskey collections boast the likes of Juyondai and Hakurakusei Michiba Rokusaburo. Continue the conversation with your date in their bespoke lounge, or choose the intimate private dining room from the start.
