Takahashi-san makes small batches of premium tea along the Warashina River in Kozeto, Shizuoka. Kozeto is a major tea-producing area located in the region of Honyama. Shizuoka tea originates in Honyama and accounts for about 40% of Japan’s tea production. Alongside his father, Takahashi-san produces both Japanese green tea and a unique roasted oolong tea. Using special processing equipment imported from Taiwan (a place famous for its oolong tea), Takahashi-san is able to create a wide variety of aromatic oolong teas. His roasted oolong hojicha tea, with fruity and floral notes, has won awards at numerous national tea competitions.
