Experience Details

While not a major tourist attraction, the Kamogawa Delta — where the Kamogawa and Takanogawa rivers converge — is a picturesque spot cherished by locals, who can often be seen strolling leisurely through the riverbank against the pristine blue mountains. Travel to this serene part of Kyoto to experience one of Japan’s oldest rituals: a traditional tea ceremony.

A tea master with over 30 years of experience will welcome you into a small, simple tea room where you’ll become immersed in a peaceful, mindful environment. Your instructor will share insights into the tea ceremony rituals, drawing from their deep understanding and passion for the art of tea. Experience a timeless tradition, enjoy matcha, and learn to make your own matcha if you’d like. Your seasoned teacher will guide you through matcha-making, from whisking the powdered tea to the precise movements when serving and sharing the tea.

Both beginners and guests with prior experience with tea ceremony are welcome to join, and are sure to learn something new in a session both informative and enjoyable.
