Experience Details
Premium grilled meat might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Kyoto, best known for its traditional shrines and temples, cobblestone streets, and kimono-clad geisha.
But with easy access to fresh wagyu beef from the Kansai region — the likes of Tajima, Kobe, and its very own local Kyoto branded beef — Japan’s old capital is home to countless yakiniku (grilled meat) restaurants, ranging from upscale to casual dining. With a built-in grill on each table, these restaurants have a simple proposition: grilling cuts of meat until tender and juicy, enjoying them with sauces and garnishes, and washing it all down with a refreshing glass of sake or another drink of choice.
In this private experience, you’ll dine with Hiroshi, a local tour guide, at a yakiniku restaurant in central Kyoto handpicked especially for you according to your preferences. Hiroshi will demonstrate how to grill various cuts to enhance flavors and ensure a tender bite. While feasting on premium Japanese wagyu beef and side dishes, feel free to ask Hiroshi for suggested things to do in the area, and gain local insights to make the most of your trip to Kyoto.
Hiroshi has traveled extensively, having visited Canada, Denmark, and Germany during his stint as a sushi chef apprentice. Now back in his home country, he enjoys leading visitors through his beloved Kyoto, showing the sights and experiences they shouldn't miss — among which is, of course, a delicious grilled beef dinner at one of his favorite restaurants!
After dinner, enjoy a 30-minute night stroll along Gion, Yanaka, or Pontocho, where Hiroshi will show you some of the dazzling sights of Kyoto at night before stopping for dessert to end the tour on a sweet note.
