Experience Details
Join local Fukuoka instructors in this private home cooking class to learn how to make classic Japanese foods. You'll prepare okonomiyaki, takoyaki, spring rolls, and a seasonal side dish, which you'll enjoy with green tea and Japanese sake.
Your host will introduce the ingredients and recipes over a cup of tea before you start cooking. You'll then get hands-on learning to make spring rolls shaped like cute kabuto hats and be instructed on how to shape and fry them. Next, you'll mix flour, egg, dashi, chopped cabbage, and other vegetables and toppings to make a delicious okonomiyaki savory pancake. While your okonomiyaki sizzles on the pan, filling the air with a delightful smell, you'll enjoy appetizers and Japanese sake.
You'll then move on to making takoyaki (grilled octopus dumplings). Your host will show you how to slice up the octopus and shape the dumplings in their characteristic round shape to make this classic Osaka dish, which you will then enjoy together. Finally, you'll end your meal on a sweet note by sipping matcha and tasting traditional Japanese sweets (wagashi) before saying goodbye to your hosts.
