Experience Details
Embark on a culinary adventure in this private cooking class led by local hosts in Fukuoka. You will prepare a three-course meal including two of Japan's most famous dishes — sushi and tempura — and a homestyle meat and potatoes comfort dish called nikujaga, and enjoy your meal with Japanese sake and green tea (matcha).
Upon arrival, you'll meet your host and make your way to the kitchen venue together. Here, your class will kick off with a refreshing cup of tea and a detailed explanation of the ingredients and recipes. Then, you'll dive into the hands-on cooking experience. You'll start by preparing the meat and potatoes for nikujaga, a hearty Japanese stew that is a comfort food in its own right. Following this, you'll learn how to fry tempura until it reaches a crisp perfection. Finally, it'll be time for sushi-making!
You can opt between three kinds of sushi: maki rolls, temari sushi, and masu sushi (please specify your choice upon booking). Maki rolls are filled with toppings, rice, and seaweed on the outside, temari are cute and round bite-sized pieces, while masu sushi is rice with toppings served in a small wooden box. If you make masu sushi, you will enjoy appetizers, sake, and tempura before making sushi. Tasting two kinds of sake is included no matter the sushi of choice. Once you've finished your meal, you will wrap the experience with matcha and traditional Japanese sweets.
