The historic geisha district of Gion is a central aspect of Kyoto's identity, history and culture. From Hanami-koji Street, lined with preserved machiya townhouses, restaurants and teahouses, to the famous Gion Shirakawa canal, framed by willowing trees, every corner of this district will make you feel like you've traveled back in time.
You'll begin with a guided tour of Gion as it becomes lit aglow by paper lamps in the evening. Your host will lead the stroll, sharing insights into the secretive world of geisha and its customs while taking you through some of Gion's iconic spots. You'll learn about the historical significance of geisha culture, its rich traditions and enduring cultural relevance.
After your stroll, you'll enjoy a kaiseki feast at an exclusive dinner. Beautifully presented and featuring only the best-quality ingredients, your kaiseki course will include two rounds of appetizers, sashimi, grilled and simmered dishes, and a main course of Kyoto beef steak, followed by a selection of sushi and dessert.
