Experience Details
Journey to Chigasaki city (in Kanagawa prefecture) for an unforgettable calligraphy experience with a master, followed by a sushi lunch!
Learn the art of Japanese calligraphy in a traditional Japanese house just an hour outside of central Tokyo. After arriving at your destination, you’ll be introduced to a renowned calligrapher–Mizuho Inamura–who also happens to be your teacher for the day. Inamura-sensei began practicing calligraphy at the age of 7 and went on to study under Souun Takeda, Japan’s leading calligrapher. She went on to develop her original calligraphy style (using strings to balance the body), which you’ll get to experience.
Your host will teach you about the art of calligraphy and guide you as you paint your own piece. Following your calligraphy experience, you’ll venture to Inakazushi Honjin for lunch. Inakazuhi Honjin is a traditional sushi restaurant that has been serving high-quality sushi for nearly 50 years years. A seasoned sushi chef will prepare your tasty, generously portioned morsels in front of you.
We have an optional package available if you’d like to level up this experience! On top of the calligraphy lesson and sushi lunch experience, you can round off the day by visiting a historic sake brewery.
