Namaiki
True to its name, which means "pure" in Japanese, Yoroniku's sister store, Namaiki, in Suehirocho is putting a greater focus on serving raw meat dishes.
Restaurant Details
While its flagship store, the legendary Yoroniku in Minami Aoyama, is renowned for serving high-grade meat grilled right at your table, Namaiki — the brand's third location, opened in Suehiromachi in 2014 — offers a daring twist by inviting diners to explore proteins in their rawest form. Literally.
Namaiki features a variety of uncooked meat dishes that adhere to the strictest standards, ensuring that even the most cautious eaters can enjoy them. The tender red meat can be served as sashimi, which boasts a smooth texture that feels like it melts in the mouth. Among its standout offerings are three types of yukhoe, a Korean-style beef tartare, including a delightful white Yukhoe topped with silky tofu espuma and a unique natto yukhoe. For a special treat, lightly seared wagyu is transformed into exquisite nigiri sushi using the traditional “aburi” technique.
As a sister restaurant, Namaiki also carries on some of the beloved dishes from its predecessor, such as the celebrated "silk loin." This exceptionally marbled cut of wagyu beef loin is sliced paper-thin and bursting with umami flavors.
For those who may not be ready to embrace raw meat, a selection of traditional cuts is available, expertly grilled by knowledgeable staff. Guests can enjoy the finely marbled core of the beef tongue, which is thinly sliced and garnished with salted kelp, or savor the misuji (shoulder blade) draped in a delicate broth infused with grated daikon radish. The zabuton (chuck area) is served in a special sauce, paired with a rich egg yolk.
If there is room on the stomach to spare, end the meal with their signature refreshing Awa somen noodles and authentic kakigori for dessert.
