Kappo Hakutaka
Enjoy the family atmosphere at a downtown Hiroshima kappo with three generations of accumulated expertise.
Restaurant Details
In Hiroshima’s most vibrant downtown area there’s a traditional Japanese restaurant which has been a local favorite for the better part of a century, now in the hands of its third generation owner-chef. The heritage of the shop stretches back further still, as it was once a retailer which sold sake. The current name references one of the most popular varieties that was sold there, and they continue to serve that type even to this day!
You’ll find it — and a range of other sakes — accompanying fine traditional dishes such as grilled Hiroshima beef, premium sashimi, and rice balls created by the owner’s wife. The family connection really runs all throughout Kappo Hakutaka, and when you take a seat at their welcoming counter you’ll feel like a member yourself. It’s this fantastic atmosphere (and the delicious food) which has seen Kappo Hakutaka recognized internationally, with a star in the Michelin Guide.
A la carte ordering is available in addition to the chef’s-choice set course menu, so you can either curate your own meal or put yourself in the safe hands of one of the most qualified kappo chefs in the city.
