Taking a traditional udon and tempura making class in a 90-year-old Japanese house was an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere was steeped in history, with the wooden beams and tatami mats providing a cozy, authentic backdrop. Ayumi, a warm and knowledgeable instructor, guided me through each step of preparing fresh udon noodles from scratch and frying delicate tempura. The hands-on experience allowed me to appreciate the art of these classic dishes, while the instructor’s insights into Japanese cooking traditions deepened my understanding. The class was intimate, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions, and the final meal was both satisfying and delicious. It was a wonderful way to connect with Japanese culture in such a unique setting.

Great experience. As we are both vegetarians it was difficult for us to find a cooking class in Japan, but Max tailored the cooking class based on our needs and showed us how to cook vegetarian versions of Japanese dishes such as Gyoza and Ramen.

We had an absolutely wonderful time! Joining this cooking sessions was a very special and comforting experience: We learned a lot about Japanese food, eating culture and cooking. The food we have created was yummy and we even got the recipes and special hacks to prepare them at home. Our cooking teachers spoke perfect English and were lovely and open for any of our many curious questions. The studio is centrally located in an old Japanese house. Only being there is great. We fully recommend this unique experience. - Connecting with Japanese food and people.
