Experience Details

One of Japan's most celebrated noodle dishes, tempura udon combines a bed of chewy, thick udon noodles dipped in a soy sauce broth with a crisp topping of assorted tempura fritters that give it a refreshingly crispy bite. A blissful blend of textures and flavors, this dish is also surprisingly easy to make once you master some basics of Japanese home cooking.

In this cooking class in Osaka, you'll make a classic tempura udon noodle dish with a local host. In the spacious kitchen of a 90-year-old renovated townhouse, you'll start by learning about some of the ingredients and cooking methods to be used before getting hands-on cooking.

You'll make the noodle dough from scratch, which you'll then knead with your feet, an unforgettable experience. Next, you'll dip shrimp and vegetables in tempura batter and deep fry the ingredients until golden crisp. Once ready, you'll assemble your tempura udon dish and get ready to eat!

Enjoy your delicious lunch with your host, sharing insights on Japanese culture and cuisine. You'll receive a cute chopstick set with an origami paper holder and mizuhiki decorations to remember the experience. Who knows, you might use the chopsticks to eat tempura udon next time you recreate the recipe you learned in this class!
