If you are looking for a unique experience in Hokkaido, look no further. Like you, we (me and wife) were after something different and came across the Hokkaidian Homestead cooking experience. The chance to prepare snow crab and live scallops was irresistible, so we booked right away. It turned out to be an incredibly relaxing session. It’s not just about cooking—this is more like a gathering with great company. Ian and his wife, who have been living in Hokkaido for 16 years, are wonderful hosts. You can ask them anything about food or sustainable living and enjoy a delightful conversation while savoring dishes cooked with locally sourced ingredients. So be like us and bring home this culinary experience like no other!

We had an incredibly fun time learning to make decorative sushi and onigiri with Yuki! Yuki was an amazing host and teacher and was very patient with us. She also picked us up and dropped us off from the train station which was very helpful! As well as the lesson, she also gave us lots of local recommendations for food around Sapporo and we had lots of laughs and good times. We will take the skills and experience back to Australia and be able to make beautiful decorative sushi and rice balls when we are home. We will definitely do another lesson with Yuki next time we are back in Hokkaido. Thanks Yuki! 😊 Highly recommend!! Everyone needs to do this!
