Experience Details
Japan’s northernmost prefecture of Hokkaido has become synonymous with delicious food and drinks, from fresh produce and dairy products to ramen, Sapporo beer and more. This makes Sapporo the perfect place to not only taste amazing dishes, but also go one step beyond and learn about Japanese cooking. This home cooking class will teach you how to roll sushi and make two complementary dishes that encapsulate the best of washoku (Japanese cuisine), as told by a local chef.
Your host will be Yuki, a professional chef from Sapporo who specializes in washoku. Yuki learned insights on washoku from an experienced chef who used to cook for celebrities and even the Japanese imperial family. Passionate for sharing the charm of washoku, Yuki has appeared on TV shows and provides classes to learners of all levels where she shares her special recipes right from her home in Sapporo.
You’ll start by learning how to make and roll decorative sushi rolls that look as good as they taste. Once your fresh sushi is ready, you’ll complete your meal with two additional dishes (your choice between glazed grilled chicken, spinach with sesame seed dressing or a rolled omelet (tamagoyaki) served with miso soup. Yuki will also teach you a few insights on how to make Japanese bento (packed meals).
End the class by enjoying your food creations alongside Yuki. You’ll take her original recipes home to recreate your favorite dishes anytime.
