Experience Details

Spared from the bombings during World War II, Yanaka Ginza is one of the only surviving areas with old town architecture, now one of the oldest and most picturesque districts in Tokyo. In its heyday, Yanaka Ginza was the birthplace of many local artisans, including famous writers and visual artists in Tokyo. The area has still managed to preserve its lively energy, contrasted with iconic winding lanes leading to intimate temples and humble shrines. And of course, Yanaka Ginza boasts some of the best restaurants and street food in the city.

Take an afternoon walk along the quiet street that leads up to Nippori Station, and you’ll notice that Yanaka Ginza’s proficiency in local craft is still alive and booming today. Including pottery, textiles, wood prints, and jewelry-making, as well as stationary and traditional food. In this cultural and historical tour of old town Tokyo, experience all of this and more. Get a chance to mingle with other tourists as you bask in the warmth of the sun, learn from locals, and taste local street snacks. Visit local shops and explore the long-established art community with exhibitions in some of Yanaka Ginza’s best art galleries housed in traditional buildings. Enjoy a delicious lunch meal with food from Kyushu, Japan's south, then end the tour with a lovely matcha tea ceremony in an antique shop. Take home fond memories of this beautiful old town area; step back in time during this Tokyo Old Town Food Tour in Yanaka Ginza.
