Experience Details
Japanese-style fried chicken (karaage) alone is delicious but even tastier as part of a bento, a Japanese-style packed meal. Learn the intricacies of crafting an authentic bento and follow traditional recipes guided by a friendly local professional chef. This experience is designed to teach you how to prepare a bento, balancing flavors and colors to make it both delicious and visually appealing.
Your host for this experience will be Mika, a passionate chef and certified Food Education instructor. At her renovated home kitchen, she will guide you in her friendly, relaxed style as you master the essentials of traditional bento making.
Your colorful bento will include karaage (Japanese-style fried chicken), a few seasoned rice balls (onigiri) and fresh sides: green beans with sesame dressing and Japanese-style potato salad. You'll complete the meal with a classic dashimaki tamago (Japanese rolled omelet), a steamy bowl of miso soup, and tangy tsukemono (salty pickles), edamame, and a refreshing serving of ume sorbet for dessert.
Experience Japanese home cooking and learn delicious recipes that will later be sent to you by email, so you can recreate even more delicious-looking packed meals to enjoy on the go.
