While many come to Fukuoka to try the delicious food, there are also places to cleanse the traveler’s palate between food tours. For those who appreciate a stroll and taking in some historical sights, Yusentei is the ideal destination.
Built as a second home for Lord Kuroda Tsugutaka in 1754, Yusentei Park houses a traditional garden, small waterfalls, and a spectacular lake that demands to be immortalized in photographs, rain or shine. The waters are also home to beautiful koi fish, and parkgoers can enjoy feeding them while exploring the park. There are spots to enjoy Yusentei’s scenery with a cup of delicious tea. Travelers can take this time to relax and meditate before tackling the rest of the day.
The tour ends with a short walk to a selection of restaurants popular with locals, which serve either exquisite Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki cooked to order, or scrumptious bites of sushi.
