This modern Ginza restaurant is a great place to sample the hearty, hefty, but surprisingly healthy cuisine of Japan’s sumo wrestlers.

Restaurant Details

This Ginza restaurant specializes in the historic cuisine of sumo wrestlers. The shoppers and salarymen of the area might not need quite as big portions as the sumo themselves, but they still love the hearty, delicious meals which these sportsmen enjoy every day.

In their chanko nabe hot pot (traditionally eaten by sumo to bulk up their weight) they pile in assorted meats, chicken dumplings, udon noodles, vegetables, and yuzu pepper. This makes for an extremely flavorful and hearty meal. They also offer a range of grilled and fried dishes too, including pork bowls, katsu curry, and fried shrimp.

There’s a real sense of modern-traditional class in their main dining room, with concrete and wooden tones on the walls and floors. Some private rooms go old school with historic decor and tatami mat flooring.
