Ramenya Toy Box
Watch the magic unfold as the chef crafts his award-winning, chicken-based ramen using a nose-to-tail approach at this Michelin-featured ramen-ya.
Restaurant Details
The restaurant’s name, “Toy Box,” was chosen by the owner in the hopes of capturing the same excitement for guests as a box of toys does for a child. Located in the old-fashioned Arakawa district, Minowa's Ramen Toy Box consistently ranks highly on top-rating sites in Japan. Although it's received numerous awards and recognitions, including from the Michelin Guide, the restaurant doesn't rely on accolades to build its reputation.
The signature dish here is the delicate shoyu ramen. The bowls are warmed before being filled with tare and broth, a carefully crafted blend of 5-7 premium Japanese soy sauces that perfectly complement the rich chicken base. The restaurant also features thin, flat noodles made specifically for the dish, designed to enhance the eating experience by clinging to just the right amount of soup with each bite. Every bowl of noodles promises intense chicken flavors from the Nagoya Cochin chicken breed, chewy-textured noodles and clear soup with fantastic homemade shoyu.
The interior reflects the simplicity of a classic ramen-ya, with timber tables, hanging ladles, and large simmering pots of chicken broth. Curious diners can even peek into the open kitchen to watch their meal being prepared.
