———

You’ve probably never heard of this excellent Japanese restaurant in Odaiba, but you might know its sister. That’s because a central Tokyo branch of Gonpachi featured in the movie Kill Bill as the setting for the movie’s craziest fight scene. Yep — that fight scene!

The Odaiba branch doesn’t have any Hollywood film credits to its name, but it does boast the same amazing atmosphere and menu. Think fully traditional fixtures and fittings: circular archways, straw screens, wooden beams, traditional art, and hexagonal lanterns — you’ll know for sure that you’re in Japan once you step through the doors of Gonpachi Odaiba

The menu is also quintessentially Japanese, offering a chance to try a huge range of national favorites. These include delicious soba noodles, yakitori chicken skewers, perfectly crisp tempura, and fantastic seafood.

Since the restaurant is located near the edge of the man made island of Odaiba, it offers brilliant views of Tokyo Bar and the rest of the city across the water. With the doors staying open until 3 AM, you can settle in for a full evening of drinking, dining, and watching night descend over the beautiful cityscape of Tokyo.
