My husband and I had such a great time on this tour! The food was absolutely delicious — we tried a range of dishes, and loved every bite. What made it even better was the conversation. Our guide, Hero, was super friendly and gave us so many interesting insights into Kyoto, Japanese culture, and local life. It felt really relaxed, like spending an evening out with a local friend. We also loved that the guide took photos along the way, so we could just enjoy ourselves without worrying about snapping pictures. Now we have some great memories to look back on! We’d definitely recommend this experience to anyone wanting a fun, authentic night out in Kyoto.

The Kyoto Izakaya Food Adventure hosted by Hiro was absolutely fantastic! Hiro was our incredible guide who introduced us to delicious food in fantastic restaurants and walked us through amazing places. He was engaging and had some great insights. He brought us to a bright and lively, hard to find Yakitori restaurant where the waiters and the cooks carried on a call and response across the restaurant. He told us they were basically saying "how can we help you?" It was delightful and the food was great. He later took us through the Gion at night when it was quiet and almost completely deserted, all while he taught us a bit of culture. I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to enjoy these experiences, and I will never forget. We booked the tour on our first night and it served us well on the remainder of our trip to Kyoto and beyond. It's a fun and delicious way to explore Kyoto with the perfect guide. Highly Recommended.

It's an exceptional opportunity for every foodie to watch, how mochi is pounding. Even more so to participate in it! We really enjoyed the interesting insights, and discovering the whole process – not to mention the unique deliciousness of the fresh mochi. We could even try four different types of it! The organisation of the whole event was very smooth: easy communication, clear itinerary, friendly and nice hosts, professional chef by the soup making (actually, it was a complete lunch), lot of further tips and informations on the traditional Japanese cuisine. Marie, our host is actually an advocate of the fermentation and traditional way of cooking ("washoku"), so she has a broader point of view on this topic. Through her experience, we could also get a deeper understanding on the usage of the ingredients and their health effects. It was a pleasure to meet her and participating on this experience. I would warmly recommend to all food lovers and enthusiasts! (The location is within reachable distance of many famous sake breweries and also not far from the Fushimi-inari shrine. So you can schedule nicely into your plans.)

Our family of four had a fabulous time with Hiro on the food and walking tour. We enjoyed some Gyoza and sushi as well requested and then Hiro took us on an incredible walk around Gion with all the sites at night. To top it off he is an incredible photographer and so he captured the night so well. Don’t hesitate to book with Hiro- you won’t be disappointed.

I’m so glad we went with Hiroshi through the market. We tasted more and learned more than we would have just walking through on our own. We did not leave the tour hungry. Hiroshi recommended a restaurant for dinner and even made a reservation for us. Dinner was amazing too.
