Sushi Sobo
A Michelin-starred sushi restaurant housed inside a coastal spa resort — if that doesn’t sound like pure luxury to you, then nothing will.
Restaurant Details
The Belle Vista Spa is an oasis of calm in Onomichi, around 90 minutes down the coast from Hiroshima. Aside from being a top spot for rest and relaxation, it’s also worth making the trip here for Michelin-rated sushi.
Sushi Sobo’s fish is all sourced from Setouchi — widely regarded as the best port for fish from the Seto Inland Sea. You’ll look out over these beautiful waters as you dine in the restaurant, with the windows offering a panoramic view.
The sushi is prepared in the capital’s classic Edomae style, as the restaurant was developed with the help of Uoji Harada in Tokyo’s Ginza district — the sushi capital of the world. Following historic tradition, they also season their rice with red vinegar, with a touch of seaweed salt.
Only eight of their premium omakase set meals are served each day, meaning this is one of the most exclusive sushi meals in the prefecture. If you feel like treating yourself to a spa day and some exquisite Michelin-starred seafood, reserve yourself a spot and head on down.
