Noriko is a wonderful, great, friendly and funny lady. She has a lot of knowledge about Japanese history and loves to share that. She’s an excellent kimono-sensei (teacher), has a great selection of very precious kimonos, also in big sizes. She’s a wonderful matcha teacher; serves delicious green tea with traditional Japanese sweet, while she explains the history of tea ceremonies.

The kimono dressing and Japanese tea ceremony was a wonderful, immersive experience. Being dressed in a traditional kimono was a unique way to connect with Japanese culture, and the tea ceremony that followed was just as fascinating. The host’s enthusiasm brought each step to life, and I learned so much about the traditions. A truly special experience I’d recommend to anyone wanting to explore Japanese culture in a beautiful, meaningful way.

Experience Gluten-Free Japanese Tea Ceremonies

Discover the art of Japanese tea ceremonies while enjoying gluten-free options tailored for those with specific dietary needs. Japanese tea ceremonies, known as "chanoyu," "sado," or "chado," are time-honored rituals with roots in Zen Buddhism. These events center around the preparation and serving of matcha, a type of powdered green tea, and are often accompanied by traditional Japanese sweets. Now, even if you're following a gluten-free diet, you can participate in these memorable ceremonies without worry. With expert hosts knowledgeable in both the tea ritual and dietary requirements, you're assured of a harmonious experience.

The Art of the Tea Ceremony

The Japanese tea ceremony is much more than preparing and drinking tea; it is a spiritual practice and a gateway to experiencing the Zen philosophy. During a tea ceremony, every detail matters - from the selection of the utensils to the arrangement of the tea room. Typically held in a serene setting, the ceremony aims to create a moment of peace and mindfulness. Participants are often encouraged to engage all their senses, focusing on the taste of the tea, the texture of the tatami mat, the sound of the water, and the aesthetic of the traditional implements. Offering gluten-free options respects the precision of the ceremony while ensuring inclusivity for all attendees.

Gluten-Free Delicacies with Your Tea

Accompanying your green tea are often seasonal sweets or wagashi, traditionally made with rice flour, beans, and naturally gluten-free ingredients. For those with gluten sensitivities, these sweets can be custom-prepared to avoid any gluten-containing components, allowing you to enjoy the full ceremonial experience without risk. From delicately crafted sweets to savory snacks, a gluten-free spread adds to the delightful experience of your tea ceremony, ensuring that you can savor every moment without dietary concerns.
