Experience Details
Learn to make classic Japanese dishes during this Traditional Home Cooking Class in Tokyo! During your trip to Japan, you might find yourself swept away by all the attractions the country has to offer, from amusement parks to historical temples and shrines. But this is just one facet of Japanese culture, and it’s not Japan as Japanese people experience it on a daily basis. For a taste of the Japanese lifestyle, join this traditional home cooking class in Asakusa, and learn how to make the wholesome and delicious staple dishes that nourish people in Japan every day. Plus, you’ll get the option of dining in a tatami mat room!
First, you’ll make a name tag out of Origami. Then, roll up your sleeves and let’s get cooking! Every dish in this class is cooked in the traditional style. For example, the soup is made from Dashi, and the rice is cooked in a special Donabe (earthenware pot). In addition to soup, rice, and pickles, you can choose a main dish. One of your choices of main dishes, Tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelette), is made using a special pan. And of course, the teriyaki sauce is made from scratch for our delicious teriyaki chicken. The dishes you make can be eaten in a Japanese-style tatami mat room, if you wish. Then, after the meal, we will take a stroll in Kappabashi (known as Kitchen Street), which famously packed with cooking supply and tableware shops!

Experience Location
Home to the famous Sensoji Temple, a Buddhist temple built in the 7th century, Asakusa overflows with rich history and traditional culture. In the past, Asakusa was Tokyo’s leading entertainment district, a red light district with a number of kabuki theaters. Most of Asakusa was destroyed during World War II, but it has since grown into one of Tokyo's most visited tourist spots. Here, you'll find Nakamise Dori, a bustling shopping street lined with local snack and souvenir shops. Asakusa also has other attractions such as parks, public baths, and museums.
