Experience Details
Hokkaido is the prefecture of Japan known as the “Kingdom of Food,” responsible for crops such as potatoes and wheat, seafood like king crab and sea urchins, and a booming beef and dairy industry. During this experience, guests can enjoy the products of Hokkaido right at its source, enjoying a relaxing glamping experience on Tokachi Shinmura Farm. Run by a fourth generation dairy farmer who is using sustainable farming practices to mitigate the farm’s environmental impact, the farm produces milk and milk products such as yogurt and milk jam, which visitors can enjoy, knowing that they are supporting a business whose goal is to achieve zero waste.
This glamping experience takes place in a meadow in the middle of the farm, and includes the tent (with set up assisted by staff members), ingredients for the BBQ dinner and breakfast. Camping equipment may also be rented on-site at an additional cost. The dinner includes a wide variety of wild pig meats (hamburg, sausage, wild pig steak, and bacon), seasonal vegetables, and Raclette cheese.
After a cozy night in, drinking in the stars, cook your own breakfast the next morning, using products from Tokachi Shinmura Farm, like yogurt, milk, and cheese. Bread, bacon, jam, an egg, and curry soup will also be provided. Enjoy your breakfast sandwich at a leisurely pace, gazing out at the view of the open fields stretching before you. A trip to the rare moor-type onsen hot spring is also a possible addition to this trip.
