Ever wanted to learn how to make your favorite Japanese dishes? Join home chef Sayaka for this custom home cooking class in Fukuoka, where you can choose four to five different dishes and create a completely personalized home-cooked meal with expert guidance.
Perhaps you’re interested in learning to make fresh udon noodles from scratch or how to fry chicken for a tender yet crunchy bite of karaage. Sayaka can teach you to cook rice the traditional Japanese way with a pot instead of a rice cooker, or you could even select desserts like green tea pudding and mochi.
This is the standard menu, from which guests can choose 4-5 items:
- Steamed buns filled with minced pork (nikuman)
- Udon noodles made from scratch
- Pork cutlets (tonkatsu)
- Japanese fried chicken (karaage)
- Ginger pork (shoga-yaki)
- Gyoza dumplings
- Japanese-style beef and potato stew (nikujaga)
- Rice cooked in a pot instead of in a rice cooker
- Omurice
- Savory egg custard (chawanmushi)
- Dessert (yatsuhashi, green tea pudding, warabimochi or daifuku)
You’ll also have the option to join Sayaka at the supermarket to shop for ingredients. She will introduce you to Japanese products and help you navigate grocery shopping to find hidden gems.
Sayaka has been teaching guests in Japan to cook authentic meals for almost a decade and specializes in adapting recipes to make them simple to recreate back home.

Meeting Point and Meeting Time
Please meet your host at the Zoo and Botanical Garden Exit of Yakuin-odori Station in Fukuoka (approximately 8 minutes by train from Hakata Station.) Your host will pick you up from the station and walk you to the class location.

Please note that the host has two dogs.
